Everything you need to know about joining a clinical trial at ICR — from your first call to study completion.
A clinical trial is a carefully designed research study that tests whether a new medical treatment, device, or approach is safe and effective. Before a medication ever reaches a pharmacy shelf, it goes through years of rigorous testing — and volunteers are at the heart of that process.
At ICR, most of our trials are Phase II–IV studies. That means the treatment has already passed early safety testing, and we are now evaluating how well it works in real people like you. Every trial follows a strict, pre-approved plan called a protocol, and every step is monitored for your safety.
Participation is always voluntary. You are never obligated to join, and you can leave a study at any time — no questions asked.
You reach out by phone, email, or our contact form. We listen to your questions and help you understand what studies might be a fit.
A confidential 15–20 minute conversation where we review your medical history and current health to determine preliminary eligibility.
Before anything happens, we walk you through the full study — risks, benefits, timeline, procedures. You sign only when you are fully comfortable.
You come into our Tampa facility for a physical exam, blood work, and any study-specific tests to confirm you qualify.
You attend regular visits over the study period. Each visit includes health monitoring, the study treatment, and time with our medical team.
After your final visit, we conduct a follow-up assessment and provide a summary of your experience. You are compensated for your time.
Your personal and medical information is protected under HIPAA. Data shared with study sponsors is de-identified — your name never appears in research results.
You can leave a study at any time, for any reason, with no penalty. Your decision will never affect your ability to receive care or participate in future studies.
An independent Institutional Review Board reviews every study to ensure your rights, safety, and wellbeing are protected before and throughout participation.
